IC Pen - an innovative system of digitizing the documents

ABOUT IC PEN IC Pen is an innovative system of digitizing the documents.
IC Pen system based on digital pen technology which allows documents to be simultaneously created in both written and electronic version. It can be possible thanks to project of digital pen - an innovative device which extends the capabilities of a normal ballpoint pen which allows automatic digitizing and processing of handwritten text. Thanks to IC Pen users can create and print professional questionnaire, fill the form with digital pen, transfer the data from the pen to the computer by using the docking station or Bluetooth communications and analyze the data.  HOW IC PEN AND DIGITAL PEN WORKS IC Pen technology is based on digital pen technology. It is an innovative device which extends the capabilities of a normal ballpoint pen which allows automatic digitizing and processing of handwritten text.Although digital pen looks, feels and writes like a normal pen it is in fact a miniature computer. Its “brain” is ARM 9 processor which with the help of a build-in digital camera captures everything that was written and stores it on a memory card. Digital pen enables its users to easily create, retain and automatically digitize notes of any kind. Digital pen is fully programmable which allows not only data storage but also interactions between the user and the computer.Digital pen scans a special code that is printed on a paper. Each pen stroke activates a CCD camera which takes digital snapshots of the dot pattern at a rate of between 50 and 100 images per second. Each snapshot contains enough data to enable the pen’s image microprocessor to determine the exact position of the digital pen as well as what, where and when something was written. Having captured the coordinates from the paper, the digital pen provides key data about the handwriting context which allows determining what information will follow (e.g. a form filling situation). In addition, every digital pen has a unique pen ID which includes not only the details of what was written but also who wrote it, even if the text was written only on one page. All the data is then retained in the pen’s internal memory and if necessary transferred to the computer via Bluetooth or USB port. The digital pen alone would be worthless, if it were not for the dotted paper. All forms of conventional paper can be converted into digital paper by printing an appropriate dot pattern (a 600 dpi laser printer is sufficient). Every small area of the pattern has a unique combination of little, grey dots in different positions. When the user writes on a digital paper, the digital pen reads and retains the position of the dots and obtains the information about the location of the text. The dots are almost invisible to the naked eye. Although the dot pattern makes the paper grey it does not impede the use. THE BENEFITS THAT RESULT FROM THE IMPLEMENTATION MOBILITY
Using digital pen provide to fill the forms and documents anywhere and anytime Even 9 hour writing without contact with the computer IC Pen gives possibility to transfer the documents by Bluetooth – during a meeting with a client or at any other time
With IC Pen the data you generate while writing on paper forms has its digital version created simultaneously Quick transmission of documents, thanks to ability to transfer data from the digital pen to mobile devices The agreements do not need to scan - a document after sending is 1:1 reproductions of the paper version
Ability to maintain direct contact with clients Possibility to fill the documents without the barrier bound up with digital exclusion
By simultaneously creating both paper and electronic version of the document you are secured from losing your data in case one of the data sources was destroyed Possibility of transfer the capture data to the system from the paper document with possibility to save the paper counterpart Durability of digital pen proven by long-term use in public institution and private companies  IC Pen lets you control when and for how long the document was edited by remembering the exact time of the document’s creation
The IC Pen system allows to create an orderly documents database Categorization of documents enables efficient search by name, surname, the date of signing document or any other information
Using IC Pen is just like using any analog pen, so anyone able to write with a casual pen can take advantage of our solution With IC Pen you can save money by saving the time of your employees they would use to rewrite or scan the documents. IC Pen is compatible with other  systems and can run in the tray
SUMMARY IC Pen system enables efficient providing expertise and rapid transfer the data. Moreover, IC Pen facilities the analysis of data in the extensive analytical module. The implementation can result in optimization the process of create, fill and control of the capture data. Functions of the system can be adapted to the user and the company requirements. Digital pen is used in all over the world in in public institutions and private companies. Digital pen is intuitive device and suitable device for many activities related to record-keeping.

From behind-the-scenes experimental work for the U.S. Department of Defense to today’s highly advanced ultrasound systems used around the globe, SonoSite has been defining and redefining next-generation point-of-care (POC) ultrasound as its recognized market leader. Since the company’s early pioneering days in the 1980s, SonoSite has continued to enjoy remarkable growth while earning worldwide recognition for its progressive product line, educational programs, and advocacy for a broader understanding of ultrasound’s multiple benefits.

SonoSite began originally when the D.O.D awarded a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) grant to SonoSite’s parent company ATL Ultrasound, Inc., to create a portable ultrasound system that weighed less than 10 pounds and was durable enough to withstand the severe, unpredictable conditions of the battlefield. It took the leveraging of over a decade of expertise in digital ultrasound and customized ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit design) technology to meet the project goals, but the result was SonoSite’s first point-of-care (POC) ultrasound machine—the SonoSite 180™ system. The 180 represented both a major step forward in technology and a revolutionary approach to bringing ultrasound to the patient, wherever the patient’s point of care might be.

In April 1998, ATL spun off SonoSite as a separate, public company with a large-company IP portfolio. Between 1998 and 2012, SonoSite created five more ultrasound systems and numerous accessories while advancing its industry-leading technology. By 2012, 70,000 systems had been installed worldwide and the company was represented by 14 subsidiaries and a global distribution network in over 100 countries. SonoSite expanded into the preclinical research market when, in late June 2010, it acquired Canadian company VisualSonics and its ultra high-frequency micro-ultrasound technology. In March 2012, SonoSite became a wholly owned subsidiary of FujiFilm.

Since its inception, SonoSite’s lightweight, robust products have created and led the point-of-care ultrasound market. From sophisticated urban hospital emergency departments to clinics in austere, remote villages, SonoSite systems are used by over 21 medical specialties and provide clinicians around the world with a cost-effective tool for improving patient safety and workflow efficiency. SonoSite’s impact on global health was recognized in July 2012 when, as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Seattle World’s Fair, the Washington Global Health Alliance chose to showcase SonoSite’s NanoMaxx® ultrasound system as an outstanding Washington-state innovation that addresses global health concerns.

Currently, SonoSite has in excess of 145 patents and holds a number of prestigious design awards. It continues to be the world leader in point-of-care ultrasound.

Stethoscopes, Medela

Stethoscopes, Medela

Riester Stethoscopes 2.0 – simply better hearing! Specially developed for cardiology the new cardiophon 2.0 is Riesters masterpiece. Besides the completely new constructed chest-piece, sound transmission and binaural, the cardiophon 2.0 features a series of innovative detail solutions, which come together as a convincing overall concept. Especially in the frequency range between 200 500 Hz, which is particularly important for the auscultation of heart sounds the new cardiophon 2.0 has a by far improved acoustic compared to the previous model and sets a new standard for cardiology stethoscopes. The cardiophon 2.0 is suitable for the precise auscultation of adults and children. Innovative acoustic system with extraordinary auscultation for all frequency ranges. High-precision double chest-piece made of stainless steel. Bilateral special membrane for precise acoustics, 44 mm and 32 mm, with novel non-chill rims for improved adaptation on the skin. Anatomically shaped binaural with internal multiple spring for adjusting the contact pressure.      Extra-soft, replaceable and pivotable ear-tips for perfect sealing at the ear canal and enhanced wear comfort. Y-tube with separate sound-conducting pathways for the left and right ear with particularly good audio-transmission. Total length: 71 cm Weight: 204 g Latex-free. The cardiophon 2.0 is supplied with two pairs of replacement ear-tips, a replacement membrane each and a name plate. Acoustic performance

The design of the novel chestpiece, which is signed in for utility patent, is the centrepiece of the cardiophon 2.0 and duplex® 2.0. Sound pick-up and sound transmission have been thoroughly reworked and added to a new overall concept, which sustains any comparisons with regard to its acoustic performance.  Auscultation is significantly disturbed by interfering side noise. Therefore during the construction phase of the cardiophon2.0 and the duplex® 2.0 special attention has been paid to the design of the binaural and the ear-tips. The contact pressure of the binaural can be adjusted individually; the ear-tips are pivotable and made of extra-soft material. Altogether the ear canal is perfectly sealed against external side noise. In addition, disturbing noise due to the friction between the ear-tips and the ear will be avoided, even if the stethoscope is moving.

Riester stethoscopes are manufactured to an uncompromisingly high quality standard. The production of the binaural for example is automated. This guarantees a perfect of the binaural at the ear. The chest-pieces are manufactured using latest CNC-technology to minimize any tolerances – a precondition which only then allowed to develop the novel sound pick-up system of cardiophon 2.0 and duplex® 2.0. The continuously high level of quality is guaranteed by multiple quality checks within the scope of our quality management according to ISO 9001. Quality made in Germany

Wear comfort

Special importance has been attached to the wear comfort of the stethoscope as it is carried by ist it’s user all day long. One important factor is the low weight of cardiophon 2.0 and duplex® 2.0, which has been achieved by special manufacturing techniques and selected materials. Furthermore an unparalleled wear comfort is guaranteed by the perfect fit of the binaural with adjustable contact pressure as well as pivotable ear-tips.

TrueCPR Coaching Device

CPR devices

The best outcomes demand the best CPR. Simple enough to say, but in the heat of a cardiac resuscitation, accurately assessing CPR performance—even knowing your true chest compression depth, rate and recoil—can be anything but easy. And in your world, the constant drive for performance improvement makes the challenge of measuring CPR quality more critical than ever. Respond with TrueCPR from Physio-Control TrueCPR helps your team optimize their manual CPR performance with the real-time feedback they need on the most critical resuscitation parameters. Created by Physio-Control, a leader in lifesaving technology for more than five decades, TrueCPR is the only coaching device that can be used in conjunction with any brand defibrillator and the only device to measure actual sternalspinal displacement. And unlike accelerometer-based products, TrueCPR delivers more accurate CPR depth measurement through proprietary triaxial field induction (TFI) technology. The result is a clearer picture of resuscitation performance—during compressions, after CPR and during post-event review—to help you improve performance for the future. High-quality feedback. At every stage. Prompt. Effective. Consistent, with minimal interruptions. That’s the level of CPR every responder and clinician wants to deliver. It’s also a major focus of the 2010 AHA and ERC Guidelines, which recommend developing a culture of high-quality resuscitation and quality improvement, including measurement, benchmarking and establishing a feedback loop for response teams. TrueCPR can be a vital part of your improvement efforts, providing critical feedback for assessing CPR quality both during and after a resuscitation event. During chest compressions TrueCPR shows a CPR provider exactly how they’re doing, right where they are looking—at the patient’s chest. Compression depth, rate and recoil are displayed in real time on a highly visible dial. In addition, a CPR metronome and ventillation prompts help guide responders to provide CPR per Guidelines’ recommended rates. Immediately after an event Important summary statistics such as average rate, percentage of compressions at the correct depth and recoil, hands-on time and total event time are displayed on the easy-to-read TrueCPR dial and provide a snapshot of event performance. Post-event review and debriefing TrueCPR captures up to 180 minutes of CPR information, which can easily be assessed with Physio-Control data review software to help evaluate overall performance and establish a critical team feedback loop for continuous. True depth measurement TrueCPR is the only CPR feedback device that uses triaxial field induction (TFI), a proprietary technology from Physio-Control. During CPR, TFI uses threedimensional magnetic fields to pinpoint the distance between the chest pad and the back pad, to accurately measure chest compression depth and provide high-quality feedback in real time. And because we know the chest pad won’t always be directly above the back pad during resuscitation events, TrueCPR is designed to compensate for inexact alignment and still accurately measure compression depth. The real-time feedback delivered through our innovative TFI technology is a real advantage in the midst of a resuscitation event, plus the more accurate chest compression measurements collected by TrueCPR also provide critical data for ongoing quality improvement initiatives. Unique in the market Most CPR assist devices available today uses an accelerometer to measure compression depth, but these devices have been shown to overestimate true chest compression depth in situations where softer surfaces like mattresses compress during resuscitation, and during transport. In fact, some manufacturers’ user manuals explicitly state that their devices should not be used on a soft surface or when a patient is moving.1,2,3 Single-location accelerometer-based devices have also been shown in clinical studies to promote lower-quality CPR—in particular, reduced chest compression depth—by providing inaccurate feedback to providers both during and after an event.4,5 TFI technology in TrueCPR has been shown to consistently provide accurate compression depth feedback, and to remain effective even in soft-surface and in-motion resuscitation scenarios. Contact your Physio-Control representative to learn more about TrueCPR and discover what it can mean to your resuscitation performance. This product is not available in the United States, United Kingdom, France or Germany. Ultrasound-guided central venous access

Ultrasound-guided central venous access

Introduction Various medical specialty organizations and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)1 have advocated using ultrasonography to guide central venous cannulation. It is surprising then, that very few instructional models have been described to teach this technique. Consequently, we developed a model to teach ultrasound-guided central venous access. This paper presents a recipe for an ultrasonographic model or "phantom" that is easily made, inexpensive and simulates vessel cannulation extremely well. Methods The phantom is formed using water, unflavored gelatin, sugar-free Metamucil, latex tubes and a rectangular Pyrex glass cake pan (17 × 27 × 5 cm). Preparation of the container includes cleaning the inner surface and spraying it with a small amount of a non-stick product. To make the phantom mixture, first determine the volume of water needed to fill the desired container one-third full. Boil the water and then gradually whisk in 3 packets of gelatin for every 250 mL of water. Continue to whisk or stir the mixture until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Next, add the Metamucil in portions of 1 tablespoon for every 250 mL of water. Whisk until it is completely dissolved. Any remaining clumps of gelatin and Metamucil should be removed at this time. Lastly, pour this mixture into the container and put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or until it is firm. This concoction now forms the base layer of the mould. While the base layer of the mould is congealing, select the latex tubes (Penrose drains) that will be used to simulate the vessels. One-half inch diameter tubes work well to simulate the neck and femoral vessels and one-quarter inch diameter tubes appear like brachial vessels. Tie the latex tubes at one end and fill them with water, being careful to minimize the amount of trapped air. The volume of water in each tube determines whether it will be used to simulate an artery or a vein. For example, tubes that have less water will compress easily and therefore will appear like veins. After the desired volume of water is placed in the latex tube, tie off the open end. After the base layer of the mould is firm, place the latex tubes on top of it. A second aliquot of the gelatin-Metamucil mixture (enough to fill one-third of the container's volume, as described above) is poured onto the base layer, with enough volume to surround and cover the latex drains. This will form the middle layer. Chill the mould again until firm. Lastly, prepare another gelatin-Metamucil mixture and pour it on top of the middle layer until the container is filled to the point that the latex drains are no longer visible. Chill the mould a third time until it is firm and then remove it from the Pyrex container. At this point the phantom is ready for use. Conclusion Ultrasound-guided central venous access is a skill that emergency physicians will need to add to their armamentarium. Prior educational tools are limited, and this paper describes a phantom that is easily made, inexpensive and simulates ultrasound guidance of vessel cannulation extremely well. Further study will need to address whether it improves skill acquisition and subsequently, procedural success. References Rothschild JM. Ultrasound guidance of central vein catheterization.
